Madrid's Torres Blancas on medium format film

join me for a tour around an architectural icon on madrid’s skyline, shot on black & white film.

Having lived near this famous tower block, Madrid’s ‘Torres Blancas’ (White Towers), I have always accepted it as part of Madrid’s skyline but never peered through a camera’s viewfinder to explore the intricacies of the architecture and general feeling of the building when you walk around it. This will be one of my shorter posts, as there is not a lot of commentary I can make against each photograph and I will let the visuals do the work for me.

All shot on a Mamiya 6 and 1 roll of Ilford HP5+ film.

You can much read more about the architectural history and see an extensive set of colour photographs here, a highly recommended read!

overall observations

I would love to shoot this building on a large format camera, so many of its compositions deserve the extra time and detail a 4x5 print would give, but for now it was fun walking around it with a medium format camera and a roll of film. It also made for one of my shorter blog posts as I opted to just show the images rather than a photo-by-photo commentary.

Thanks for stopping by!
