I was invited by a good photography friend for a private visit to a 100 year old part disused heating power plant in Ban Nauheim and of course I couldn’t turn down this fantastic opportunity. Join me for a tour back in time in large format.
Join me and my large format camera mate out for a stroll on a Sunday looking for interesting architecture and eventually landing on quite a famous Munich landmark in the brutalist space.
Join me for a cold and snowy morning walk around a power station in Munich, where I practice setting up in cold weather and experiment with filters and exposure times - the results are quite unusual!
I had time for a really quick photoshoot on a bridge overseeing multiple train tracks in Frankfurt’s east end. It was also freezing cold and wet so I did these shots in a hurry. Join me for some Frankfurt trainspotting.
During a recent visit up to Germany’s North Sea coast, I couldn’t resist but bring along my large format gear to take advantage of wide open spaces and fight against some extremely changeable weather. Here are some impressions of the East Frisian coastline in large format!
Stopping over in Frankfurt en route up north, I took the opportunity to meet some fellow analogue photographers and visit the incredible ‘Sprudelhof’ spa in Bad Nauheim. Join me for a look back in time with plenty of cameras to look at too!
I enjoyed my first large format camera visit to Munich’s Olympic rowing lake so much that I returned a week later, this time with 3 other large format shooters! Join me for more big negative views including some Kodak Ektar sheet film.
Another ‘World in Large Format’ and incidentally more of the Olympic venues in Munich; this time the Olympic rowing lake with a focus on the incredible 50 year old 10,000 capacity stands along with some great weather. Join me for my impressions on Fomapan 100 film.
A Sunday meetup with a couple of fellow large format photographers for a walk around Munich’s Olympic village in search of some old architecture and interesting shots. Here are my impressions.
A Saturday morning meet up with fellow large format photographers combined with a fascinating abandoned railway building, what a great combination! Join me for a shootout with the big guns!
This post sees me heading to the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, with thankfully less climbing involved with the heavy large format gear. I shoot Kodak Ektar 100 film and Ilford FP4, come join me for a leisurely walk around two Alpine lakes.
A large format photo walk around Munich with a fellow large format photographer sees lots of experiments with different apertures, tilt & shift movements, and general good old large format geekiness. Join me for some interesting results!
An early morning Sunday photowalk with a fellow photographer, looking for interesting architectural views around the BMW World and Olympic Park area of Munich. Join me for some black & white classic shots!
My first outing with the Linhof into the Bavarian Alps saw my drag my equipment up to the 1,567m high Jochberg mountain in the Bavarian Alpine foreland. Join me alongside Kodak Ektar 100, Ilford FP4, and Kodak Pro Image 100 for some great views!
I visit yet another idyllic location in the Bavarian Alps; this time we travel to the Hintersee Lake, that has inspired poets and painters for hundreds of years. It is easy to see why! Join me for some more colourful landscapes, this time mixed in with some black & white photography.
Hauling my Linhof kit on a 1,300m vertical incline to the top of the Königsee probably was not the best idea I have ever come up with, but the resulting views were more than worth it. Join me for a walk around the Königsee in the Berchtesgaden Alps in Bavaria.
Join me for my leap of faith into the world of 4x5 large format photography, where I take my Linhof Master Technika camera back to its Munich roots to photograph the iconic Olympiapark München.
