If you’re not a fan of trains, look away now. Otherwise do join me for some great views in Frankfurt’s iconic main train station.
Whilst I find many train stations around the world very run down and attracting the wrong kind of people, I am usually intrigued by their overall architecture and interiors. I am not a train spotter, but there is just something very cool about trains in general. Frankfurt’s main station ‘Hauptbahnhof’ is no exception, if anything the area around it is worse than most other train stations, which is a great pity because the building itself is very impressive. I always find the lighting very good and marvel at some of the destinations you can reach from Frankfurt am Main HbF, including Paris, Brussels, Zurich and Salzburg to name a few.
I ended up at the main station after a city wide photowalk and decided another roll of Kodak Portra 160 was worth a try in search of some interesting shots.
I also used part of a 35mm Kodak Pro 100 roll.
There isn’t a huge amount of commentary I can make in this post other than “oh look, another train shot”.
I quite like this shot, although with shooting it wide open it creates quite an aggressive ‘bokeh’ and it is hard to decifer what the actual subject is. I like the colours in the shot though.
I was trying for a less traditional straight line composition here, not sure I like the final result though.
I find this type of composition always a winner.
Overall observations
I quite enjoyed my 20 minutes or so walking around Frankfurt main station looking for some train compositions. There isn’t a huge amount more to say about trains, trains, and more trains so with that I will say goodbye and auf wiedersehen.
Cheers,
Neil
